The Arizona desert was scorching. The time was high noon when the cowboys got on the saddle and got ready for the duel. Take in to account that even though this all sounds like the setting for a Western movie shootout, the event is another.
On Tuesday, May 5th, The Arizona Horse Soccer League held the “Duel in the Desert” equine soccer match at Dunn’s Arena, in Litchfield, Arizona. This event was held withPaso Fino horses being ridden by boys and girls of all ages against the larger Quarter horse breed.
The “Duel in the Desert” was a fun-filled family event in which horses of different breeds are pinned against each other in a soccer match fit for horsesThis kind of event is singular in its kind for the Paso Fino horse. However it does help the viewers and the riders to learn about different as well as provides Paso Fino riders with a new experience. This type of event is one that is making its way in to youth summer camps, and therefore is beginning to gain considerably in popularity. Highlights from the Fiesta of the Spanish HorseThe Fiesta of the Spanish Horse is one of the most anticipated horse shows in the West Coast. Virtually, every Spanish horse breed- PRE’s, Andalusians, Peruvians, and Paso Fino’s included- join this annual festival to compete and celebrate amongst each other. During the Classic Fino Stallions Championship, Pretencioso de la Virginia was the big winner. Pretencioso is ridden by Steven Lopez and is owned by Rancho de Esperanza from Scottsdale, Arizona. The most important event of the Fiesta of the Spanish Horse was their “Extravaganza” spectacle. May 1, 2009The Weekend of April 24 through the 26The weekend of April 24-26 was an eventful one for Galopando TV. For the first time, we streamed the Piedmont PFHA’s “Piedmont Spring Classic”, The Tennessee Valley PFHA’s “Paso Finos in Memphis,” and the Southern Regional PFHA’s “Ocala Schooling Classic- all of them back-to-back. The SRPFHA Ocala Schooling ClassicThe “Ocala Schooling Classic” was shown in the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion. This venue brought some benefits to the show’s execution. The set-up lent itself to better integration of the people. The Livestock Pavillion’s space is just the right one for a show this size. Also this show was able to showcase newly trained horses with great bloodline. Furthermore, many trainers and breeders were able to introduce these horses to the rigors of a horse show. The Classic Fino classes exposed some outstanding newcomers. The following is a list of this show’s winners:
The Tennessee Valley PFHA’s “Paso Finos in Memphis”
The “Paso Finos in Memphis” also had some pleasant surprises up its sleeve. Since the 1990’s, the show has not been at the Agricenter Show Place Arena in Memphis, Tenn. Many aspects, such as the renewed venue, and fun events for the family-such as the Champion of Champions event in which many renowned horses competed for prize money- brought about a heightened sense of camaraderie. This show was also a show where manycompetitors stood out. In the Classic Fino 3-year-old Fino Fillies class, Elegancia de Jonseb took the first place ribbon. Elegancia de Jonseb was the breakthrough surprise whom everyone witnessed. Elegancia is owned by Norman and Debbie Timbs from Shady Creek Ranch, and is ridden by Xavier Hernandez. In the 4-year-old Classic Fino Fillies class, the strong up-and-comer, Natacha II La Rosa took the blue ribbon home. Natacha II is ridden by Ramon Figueroa and is owned by Hacienda Santa Lucia. In the 3-year-old Classic Fino Colts Class, rider John Jairo Pelaez and the colt, Valentino de Heaven’s Horses, rode to first place.
Another good surprise that took place was that of Kay Chiapetta’s, Huracan de QC. Huracan made quite an impression in the Pleasure Stallion Championship. Huracan was ridden by Ricky Mendoza.
