From the 14th to the 17th Century, a period in history known as the Renaissance brought about a revolution in human thinking. This revolution provided, as a result, some of the greatest works art. The art of the Renaissance is remembered for its beauty, its symmetry, and its attention to detail among other attributes.

With that in mind, this past year was witness to the same beauty (in phenotype), the same symmetry (in footfall), and the same attention to detail (in overall performance). And interestingly enough, all these attributes were found in a magnificent Paso Fino horse with the same name as one of Renaissance masters. The prime Paso Horse goes by the name of Da Vinci… Da Vinci de los Reyes.

Da Vinci de los Reyes comes from the prime lineage of Profeta de Besilu and Prenda de Los Reyes. Profeta de Besilu is sired by Capuchino del Ocho and La Profetiza. Prenda de Los Reyes is the offspring of Prometido de Selecta (which is also sired by Capuchino del Ocho.)

Da Vinci de los Reyes has established himself a force to be reckoned with. As a 3-year-old colt, Da Vinci won himself the 3-year-old Classic Fino Colt National Championship in 2006. davinci-pedigree1 One year later took the 4-year-old Fino Colt Championship at the 2007 Grand Prix. At the 2008 International Paso Horse Federation National Championships, Da Vinci took the Fino Stallion National Grand Championship home.

Just like their sire, Da Vinci’s offspring have also begun to make a name for themselves.

Da Vinci de Los Reyes is owned and was raised from birth by John King from Tierra de Los Reyes in, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Da Vinci currently resides at Criadero Doña Lola in Ocala, Fl and is trained by Alvin Pérez and managed by José Davila DVM.

Visiting the great Joyero

joyero

By: Jorge Mejia

They have called him elvis. They called him the perfect Paso Fino. They have even gone as far as to call him the messiah of the Paso Fino Horse.

We are, of course, talking about the Paso Fino Stallion that goes by the name of Joyero III.

Joyero III is the offspring of Resplandor Tres and La Cosecha. His extended bloodlines include Amadeus de Resorte Cuarto and Terremoto de Manizales.

The Galopando TV crew had a chance to sit down with Dady “King” Diaz, the owner and rider of Joyero. Diaz was kind enough to share his experiences with the most talked about horse in the past couple of years.dadydiazjoyero

“I consider myself an extremely lucky person,” Diaz said.

“The chances of coming across a horse like this are almost none. I’d just like to thank God for giving me the opportunity of having this horse come into my life.”

Diaz goes on to mention some of the more memorable moments with Joyero. According to Diaz, Joyero has caused quite a stir in the Paso Fino community. No horse was cheered for more than at the 2007 CONFEPASO Mundial Fino Stallion Grand Championship. The cheering soon turned into jeering and booing when Joyero was excused for lack of manners. The judges almost had a riot in their hands.joyero-pedigree

Joyero’s Offspring also give much to talk about. Argumento de United, Profesia de la Victoriana, Prestigio de Joyero, and Pasionaria, among others, have already begun to amass a collection of blue ribbons and National, as well as International, Championship titles under their belts.

Diaz goes on to further talk about his day to day experiences with Joyero.

“People have asked me the secret of making Joyero the horse he is today,” Diaz said. “But to tell the truth, there really is no secret. I simply ride him occasionally to keep him physically fit. I don’t over work him. I simply know that when it is time to ride him the ring, that he is going to come through for me.”

Joyero’s rise to fame, with his wins and his offspring, began to rise very quickly. We all look forward to what the future holds for Joyero.
